PodAsia visits Castle Dunnottarr is famous in Scottish history. Stonehaven, ScotlandFor any traveller to Scotland, there are the castles and these are a must see. We visited castle Dunnottarr (pronounced da-nay-ter) which is a stunning ruin on the Northeast coast near the small town of Stonehaven, a little South of Aberdeen.  Our relative Sally, kindly zoomed us - and I mean zoomed ! - in her car there.

Dunnottarr is from the 12th century and the castles remains are situated on a rock formation that forms a very defensible island. Once "inside" the castle, on top of the formation, however, there is a typically beautiful Scottish lawn surrounded by the castle buildings.

Castle Dunnottarr is famous in Scottish history for being the location where the Scottish royal heraldry were kept hidden from the English Cromwelian forces for a while.
